Department for

Housing

Your feel-good place in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee.

We, the “Housing” department of the ÖH University of Klagenfurt/Celovec, support students looking for suitable accommodation in Klagenfurt. We will be happy to advise you with questions about single-person student housing, shared apartments and rental apartments and give you tips on finding an apartment in Klagenfurt. Furthermore, we provide you with the ÖH-Housing Guide , a step-by-step guide on how to find an apartment in Austria, a checklist for viewing the apartment and a guideline as well as a model letter for contacting potential landlords. You can also find brochures from the Ombud for Equal Treatment on the subject of “Equal treatment on the housing market”. In addition, we are always on the lookout for affordable housing options in Klagenfurt and the surrounding area, which we send out to all apartment-seekers who have registered with us.

If you are looking for new flatmates, you are welcome to use our ‘Flatmate Matching’ service. Simply register and we will match you with people who we think would be a good fit for you. You can then get in touch with each other and search for suitable accommodation in Klagenfurt together.

Here you will find the most important student residences in Klagenfurt (as of April 2024):

  • Nautilusheim A and Nautilusheim B: Directly opposite the University of Klagenfurt are the Nautilusheim Haus A and Haus B. All rooms are fully furnished. Both houses have satellite TV, communal kitchens with TV and Wi-Fi, bicycle parking and more. In the immediate vicinity of the residence are the Europapark and Lake Wörthersee, which offer great sports and relaxation opportunities.
  • Student Village: The complex has been completely renovated in 2022 and comprises 24 small buildings, each with 8 or 12 garconniers (13-15 sqm of one-room apartments fully furnished), surrounded by generous green spaces. Cafés and restaurants nearby provide enjoyment during the well-earned learning breaks.
  • Haus Waggasse: This student hall of residence, which opened in 2025, is located in the heart of Klagenfurt. Sixteen rooms and a large communal kitchen create a homely atmosphere. The rooms were modernised in 2025 and all have either their own bathroom, running water or access to communal bathrooms.
  • Mozartheim (closes on 30.09.2026 for renovation work): Klagenfurt’s oldest student residence, opened in the 1970s, is a 15-minute walk from Klagenfurt University and is home to 149 students. All rooms are fully furnished, have a private bathroom and a kitchenette and can be occupied by 1 to 2 people. The city centre and the Wörthersee are easily accessible by public transport or by bike.
  • Concordia: Concordia is located in a quiet yet central location. The University of Klagenfurt is just a 30-minute walk away. The fully equipped individual apartments offer enough space for personal time. A large common and music room invite you to relax and socialize together.

IMPORTANT: To ensure that your studies in Klagenfurt get off to a good start, we strongly advise you to start looking for accommodation straight away, as the housing situation in Klagenfurt is currently very tight. There is a shortage of around 250 places in student residences.
A positive letter of admission does not mean that you will get a place in a hall of residence.

On our YouTube channel, you will find our ‘Housing’ video series, where we present individual topics related to the subject of ‘“housing”.
